Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX (2026+) Maintenance Schedule and Service Info

This is the maintenance schedule and associated service intervals for the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX. It is based on the 1160 cc three-cylinder engine first introduced in the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS and carried into the RX with no mechanical change in displacement, bore and stroke, or basic architecture.

Here are the motorcycles that share the same 1160 cc triple-cylinder platform:

  • Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS: standard production model, launched 2021
  • Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR: faired variant with clip-ons, produced from 2022 to 2024
  • Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX: limited-edition model from 2025 onward (restricted to 1,200 units worldwide, available only in Triumph Performance Yellow)

The RX differs from the RS mainly in ergonomics and equipment. It has clip-on handlebars mounted lower and further forward, rear-set pegs, and a dedicated performance seat. It also features an electronically controlled Öhlins SD EC steering damper, titanium Akrapovič silencer, and carbon fibre trim.

Over time, cosmetic and ergonomic changes have distinguished the RX, but no updates alter the service requirements.

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX (2026+) Service Intervals

The basic service interval for the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX is every 10,000 miles / 16,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. At each of these points, the oil and filter must be replaced, and a set of standard checks and adjustments are performed.

  • Every service: Change oil and filter, check spark plugs, inspect brakes, clutch, suspension, steering bearings, chain slack, and tire condition. Check coolant and brake fluid levels.
  • Every 2 years: Replace brake fluid, regardless of mileage.
  • Every 4 years: Replace coolant, regardless of mileage.
  • Valve clearance inspection: Every 20,000 miles / 32,000 km, a major service item that requires tank and bodywork removal.

The 1160 cc triple has a single cylinder head, which makes valve access relatively straightforward compared to multi-bank engines. Routine chain lubrication and fluid changes will keep the bike in good order.

General Notes on Serviceability for the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX

  • The 1160 cc liquid-cooled triple requires regular attention to oil, coolant, and brake fluid. Coolant must be replaced every 4 years, and brake fluid every 2 years.
  • Valve clearance inspection is due every 20,000 miles / 32,000 km. This is a major job that requires removal of the tank and bodywork.
  • The chain final drive should be cleaned, adjusted, and lubricated often, especially after wet riding or track use.
  • Electronic Öhlins suspension and the SD EC steering damper are integrated into the bike’s systems. Adjustment is made through the TFT interface, but inspection for leaks and damage should be done at each service.
  • Air filter and spark plugs are service items at scheduled intervals. Do not attempt to clean the filter with compressed air, as this may damage it.

Maintenance Schedule for the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX

Below is the maintenance schedule for the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX. The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX manual PDF can be found on the Triumph official site.

The schedule is divided into four parts:

  • First service: Due at 600 miles / 1,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.
  • Annual service: Completed every year.
  • Regular maintenance: Every 10,000 miles / 16,000 km.
  • Long-term service intervals: Items that require attention at longer, sporadic intervals.

To keep the motorcycle in safe working order, follow the scheduled maintenance chart. Maintenance may be annual, mileage-based, or both, depending on how far the bike is ridden each year.

  • If you ride LESS than 10,000 miles / 16,000 km in a year, you still need to do the annual service once a year, and complete mileage-based items as the bike reaches those distances.
  • If you ride 10,000 miles / 16,000 km a year, you can usually do the annual service and mileage-based items together.
  • If you ride MORE than 10,000 miles (16,000 km) a year, complete mileage-based items as soon as they come due, and also make sure annual items are done once every year.

First Service

The first service / break-in maintenance is usually carried out by the dealer under warranty. It should be completed at 600 miles / 1,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.

Note: The chain drive should be lubricated every 200 miles (300 km).

About the 2026 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RX 2026 is the sharpest edge of Triumph’s long-running Speed Triple line, a bike that has always lived at the crossroads of raw power and refined British engineering. Where the 1200 RS already set a high bar, the RX pushes the concept further with a limited-edition package that emphasizes track focus, aggressive ergonomics, and premium kit.

At its core sits the same 1160 cc inline triple that powers the RS. Output is unchanged at a claimed 183 PS (180 hp) at 10,750 rpm and 128 Nm (94 lb-ft) at 8,750 rpm. This engine is a direct descendant of Triumph’s Moto2 program and is one of the most compact and durable triples on the market. In practice, it delivers a spread of torque that means you can either short-shift lazily or hold it to the redline and feel the surge. Think of it as splitting the difference between the Ducati Streetfighter V4’s firepower and the usability of a KTM Super Duke. It might not win the dyno wars, but it will hang on track without making you feel like you’re wrestling a wild animal.

The RX’s real difference is in how you sit on it. Gone is the one-piece bar of the RS. Instead, the RX gets clip-ons 69 mm lower and 52 mm further forward, and footpegs set 14.5 mm higher and 25.5 mm further back. The result is a body position that shoves you over the front wheel, a move that feels instantly familiar to anyone used to sportbikes. The seat has been reshaped to give you more room to shift around, and the RX logo embossed on it is a small but telling touch.

Suspension is top-shelf Öhlins Smart EC3 semi-active kit, with the RX gaining an electronically controlled Öhlins SD EC steering damper. Adjustment is handled through Triumph’s OBTi interface, which means you can change settings without reaching for spanners. Brakes are Brembo Stylema calipers with a radial MCS master cylinder, and tires are Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3s. The bike is still only 199 kg wet, thanks in part to carbon fibre bodywork and a titanium Akrapovič silencer fitted as standard.

Tech-wise, you get the full spread: cornering ABS, traction control, multiple riding modes, wheelie and brake slide control, and a bidirectional quickshifter. The TFT dash ties it all together with cruise control and smartphone connectivity.

Maintenance is typical for a high-performance naked: oil and filter every 10,000 miles / 16,000 km or annually, brake fluid every 2 years, coolant every 4, and valve clearances every 20,000 miles / 32,000 km. Nothing out of the ordinary, but the valve service is a tank-off job.

The RX is basically Triumph’s way of giving Speed Triple owners who ever wanted “a bit more” exactly that. It isn’t a new engine or a totally different chassis, but it feels like the RR’s faired cousin moved into the track paddock. And if you like your bikes rare, Triumph capped production at 1,200 units worldwide, all in Performance Yellow.
