About the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 (2022)

The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 is Ducati’s top-shelf track-focused superbike — a no-compromise evolution of the already fearsome V4 S, built for riders who know their way around a pit lane.

It’s based on the same Desmosedici Stradale 1,103cc V4 engine found in the V4 and V4 S, making a claimed 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm and 123.6 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm. That’s serious power, but the SP2 isn’t just about numbers. Thanks to lighter carbon fibre wheels, a dry clutch, and adjustable billet rearsets, it feels sharper, flicks faster, and sheds lap time like it’s trying to prove a point. It even gets a specific track mode with a lap timer and throttle map.

The chassis is shared with the V4 S — aluminium “Front Frame” with Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension — but the lighter wheels and upgraded Brembo Stylema R calipers (plus a radial MCS master cylinder) make a noticeable difference in feel under braking and turn-in. It’s as much a scalpel as a superbike ever gets.

Electronics are extensive: cornering ABS, traction control, slide and wheelie control, engine brake control, and a bi-directional quickshifter. You can fine-tune everything via a full-colour TFT dash, or just pick a preset and ride. There’s even a GPS-assisted lap time logger, because of course there is.

Visually, it’s pure purpose: matte carbon, brushed alloy, and track-ready hardware like an open clutch cover and block-off plates in the race kit. Compared to the V4 S, the SP2 is lighter, more focused, and track-biased — it’s not designed for everyday riding, and it doesn’t pretend to be.

The Panigale V4 SP2 is the sharpest tool in the drawer — same engine, but enhanced handling, braking, and race ergonomics. It’s built for track use and feels it. The V4 S is a brilliant all-rounder with premium comfort and pace, while the base V4 gives you all the speed without the frills — and leaves more in your wallet for tires.

As with any Ducati V4, maintenance includes oil and filter changes every 12 months or 12,000 km, with major desmo valve inspections every 24,000 km.
