Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S (2025+) Maintenance Schedule and Service Info
This is the maintenance schedule and associated service intervals for the Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S 2025+. It’s the same for both models, as they share the same chassis, engine platform, and drivetrain components introduced for the 2025 model year.
The Ducati Multistrada V2 is Ducati’s smaller-capacity upright sport touring motorcycle, with longer-travel suspension, a more relaxed riding position, and a wide range of electronic rider aids. It’s built on a lightweight steel trellis frame with a single-sided swingarm, and comes standard with a 19-inch front wheel and 170 mm of front suspension travel.
Both the base model and the V2 S share the new 890cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V-twin engine with spring valve return and variable intake valve timing — a replacement for the earlier 937cc desmodromic Testastretta engine. Output is 77 kW (105 hp) at 10,250 rpm and 69 Nm (51 lb-ft) at 8,000 rpm. Power is delivered through a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive, and both versions are Euro 5+ compliant.
Here are all the motorcycles that share the same 890cc V2 engine:
- Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S — upright sport tourer with adventure-style ergonomics and long-distance comfort
- Ducati Panigale V2 / V2 S (2025+) — fully faired sportbike, updated in 2025 with the new engine platform
- Ducati Streetfighter V2 / V2 S(2025+) — stripped-down naked sportbike built for agility and street performance
In 2025, Ducati revised the Multistrada V2 (2022) with reduced weight (6 kg lighter), a narrower midsection for easier stand-over, lower seat height (830 mm), and repositioned footpegs for increased long-range comfort. The V2 S adds features like semi-active Skyhook Suspension EVO, a 5-inch TFT dash, cornering ABS, and quickshifter.
The engine layout and valve actuation design make maintenance easier than on previous models with Desmodromic systems, but the service intervals remain consistent with earlier Ducati twin-cylinder models. The overall maintenance plan is unaffected by these changes.

Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S (2025+) Service Intervals
The basic service interval for the Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S 2025+ is either every 9,000 miles (15,000 km) or every 24 months, whichever comes first. In addition, Ducati recommends a general annual inspection every 12 months, even if mileage thresholds haven’t been reached.
A valve clearance inspection is required every 18,000 miles (30,000 km). This is considered a major service but is expected to be simpler than on previous Ducati models due to the new spring-return valve system (non-Desmodromic).
Basic Service Interval Schedule
- Oil Service: Every 9,000 miles / 15,000 km or 24 months
- Valve Clearance Inspection: Every 18,000 miles / 30,000 km
- Annual Service Check: Every 12 months regardless of mileage
- First Service (Running-In): At 600 miles / 1,000 km or within 6 months of delivery
General Notes on Serviceability of the Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S 2025+
- The new 890cc V2 engine uses spring valve return instead of desmodromic actuation, simplifying valve servicing and reducing long-term maintenance complexity.
- Diagnostics, service resets, and electronic checks require Ducati’s DDS 3.0 diagnostic system and must be done by a dealer or service center.
- Despite the more conventional valve design, the bike still has advanced systems (Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO on the S model, cornering ABS, ride modes, quickshifter) which require calibration and system checks.
- Regular chain maintenance is essential, particularly in dusty or wet conditions, and the air filter may need to be serviced more frequently depending on use.

Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S 2025+ Maintenance Schedule Table
Below is the maintenance schedule for the Ducati Multistrada V2 and V2 S, introduced in 2025.
The content is the same as in the official manual, though presented in a clearer, easier-to-read format. For example, routine items like “change engine oil” are listed up front rather than buried among less frequent checks, and tasks that require dealer tools are marked where applicable. The schedule covers both distance and time intervals — follow whichever comes first.
General notes on the maintenance schedule for the Multistrada V2 / V2 S:
- After the final service on the chart, continue following the pattern shown (e.g. oil every 15,000 km / 9,000 mi, valves every 30,000 km / 18,000 mi).
- Some items (e.g. valve clearance check, diagnostics, electronic systems) require Ducati dealer tools and are marked [D].
- Other tasks (e.g. oil level, tyre pressure, chain tension) can be done at home with basic tools.
- The air filter may need earlier cleaning or replacement if riding in dusty or off-road conditions.
- Brake and clutch fluid must be replaced every 24 months, even if mileage is low.
- Ducati recommends replacing the full final drive chain kit at around 20,000 km / 12,000 mi depending on use.
- Fork oil must be replaced every 45,000 km / 27,000 mi, regardless of riding style.
This schedule applies to both the standard and S versions — they share the same engine and chassis, with only suspension and electronics differing.

About the Ducati Multistrada V2 / V2 S (2025+)
The Multistrada V2 is Ducati’s mid-weight adventure sport-tourer — a practical, road-biased all-rounder for riders who like the idea of the V4 but don’t need a warp-speed touring missile. It’s the Multistrada you can ride every day without needing titanium knees or a chiropractor on retainer.
For 2025, Ducati gave the V2 a substantial upgrade. Visually, it’s still recognisably a Multistrada, with the tall stance, signature beak, and commanding presence. But under the skin, there’s a completely new engine and chassis. The old 937cc Testastretta is gone, replaced by Ducati’s new 890cc V2 — a compact, lighter, and smoother twin with variable intake timing and (finally) conventional spring valve return. It puts out 115 hp at 10,750 rpm and 92 Nm at 8,250 rpm, and it’s much more manageable around town or when loaded up with gear. More importantly, it drops 5.4 kg off the engine weight alone and makes valve checks a whole lot easier to live with.
The new aluminium monocoque frame and lighter components shave 18 kg off the total weight vs the old 2022 model. That brings the dry weight to 199 kg for the standard V2, or 202 kg for the V2 S. It’s noticeably slimmer too, with a narrower midsection, revised rider and passenger seats, and more accessible ergonomics. Seat height is adjustable from 850 mm to 830 mm, with optional seats as low as 790 mm (on the S, using the Minimum Preload feature).

It rides like a big SuperSport with a 19-inch front wheel — stable and confident on the highway, but flickable and fun in the twisties. Both models share the same steel trellis subframe, double-sided swingarm, and 170 mm of suspension travel front and rear, but the S model gets all the toys: semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO, a 5” TFT dash, quickshifter, cornering ABS, cruise control, and more.
Here’s how the base V2 compares to the V2 S:
Feature | Multistrada V2 (2025) | Multistrada V2 S (2025) |
---|---|---|
Suspension | Marzocchi 45mm fork, manual adjust | Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO, semi-active |
Rear shock | Marzocchi, manual preload/damping | Electronically adjustable |
Display | LCD dash | 5″ full-colour TFT display |
Quickshifter | Not included | Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0 up/down |
Cruise Control | Not included | Included |
Weight (dry) | 199 kg | 202 kg |
Electronic features | Ride modes, cornering ABS, DTC | Adds DWC, EBC, full IMU suite, DMS integration |
Lighting | Full LED | Full LED with DRL and Coming Home function |
Seat adjustment options | 830/850 mm (manual) | 830/850 mm + Minimum Preload (drops to 790 mm) |
Maintenance remains typically Ducati — oil changes every 15,000 km (9,000 mi), valve inspections at 30,000 km (18,000 mi), and brake fluid every two years. But with spring-return valves and improved access, the 2025 model is less intimidating for the DIY rider or those watching long-term service costs.
