Husqvarna Nuda 900 / 900R Maintenance Schedule
This is the the maintenance schedule from the manual of the Husqvarna Nuda 900 / 900R, modified to be made easier to parse and act upon.
The Husqvarna Nuda 900 / 900R are a pair of motorcycles developed by Husqvarna jointly with BMW. The engine is based on that in the 1st generation BMW F 800 R but with 100 cc more displacement (via more bore AND stroke), for 898 cc total displacement.
The result is a parallel twin that makes a peak of 77 kW / 105 hp at 8500 rpm, with peak torque of an impressive 100 Nm at 7000 rpm. It’s not a high-power engine, but it has quite a punch of torque, and it’s significantly more than in the F 800 R of the time.

Rear | 180/55 ZR 17 | 41 psi / 2.9 bar |
About the Husqvarna Nuda 900 / 900R
The Husqvarna Nuda 900 / 900 R (same motorcycle but different ride gear) is a naked motorcycle made in collaboration with BMW, using the same base engine as the BMW F 800 R. It’s described as being a sport / naked bike of “Supermoto” style, similar to the Ducati Hypermotard 796 of the time.
It was only made for a couple of years and in limited quantities, and so it’s quite a niche bike.
Husqvarna didn’t take the donor BMW’s engine and leave it as it. It gets a bigger bore and stroke, bumping the displacement up to 898 cc, and the power up considerably by around 25%.
Husqvarna even modified the pistons, camshafts, and connecting rods, to increase the compression ratio to extract more power out of the motor.
The result is a much livelier motor than in the F 800 R. But it still has that thrum that’s consistent with other parallel twins of the time. It doesn’t have the spark, for example, of the more modern (and similar displacement / power) BMW F 900 R.
The upright but sporty riding position gives the Husqvarna Nuda 900 its lively feel. Supermotos are traditionally very lightweight single-cylinder engines, but the “middleweight supermotos” of the ~2010 time period were a unique blend of multi-cylinder power and lightweight fun. They’re also relatively impractical, without being as single-purpose as sport bikes, which is partly why they’ve gone out of fashion. Which is a shame!
The basic Husqvarna Nuda has basic equipment, but it works quite well. It does have an inverted fork, but it’s non-adjustable.
The Husqvarna Nuda 900R steps up the game considerably. It has the following differences over the base model:
Item | Nuda 900 | Nuda 900R |
---|---|---|
Front suspension | Sachs 48mm USD, non-adjustable | Sachs 48mm USD, fully adjustable |
Rear suspension | Sachs shock, preload / rebound adjustable | Öhlins rear shock, fully adjustable + length-adjustable (10mm) |
Fron tbrakes | 2 x 320mm discs, Brembo 4-piston caliper | 2 x 320mm discs, Brembo 4-piston Brembo 4-piston monoblock caliper |
The Husqvarna Nuda also shares style with its contemporary competitors like the Hypermotard 796 and Aprilia Dorsoduro. Bikes don’t come with trellis frames anymore; the Nuda was one of the last.
